Choose a Product in Nigeria or used by Nigerians and work on a Product Sales Insight using Excel and Power BI.

Data scraping was done from Kaggle. The sales transaction of Toyota vehicles shipped in 2021 majorly to Lagos and Abuja make up this dataset. It was cleaned and analyzed using Microsoft Excel, and Visualization(Dashboarding) was done using Microsoft Power BI.

ANALYSIS

  1. Understanding the data: The data contains 11 columns and 700 rows. it includes important features like Product name, Ship Date, Odometer, Model, Transmission, and Sales price.

  2. Prepping the data: The data was cleaned using Microsoft Excel. The Sales column was given currency to fit in with the finance format. Duplicates and null values were removed from the dataset. Also, fields that might not be relevant to the analysis were looked out for, so it does not distort the desired insights.

DASHBOARDING

First, the already cleaned dataset in Excel was loaded using the Power Query in Power BI, the location column was changed from text format to State/Province, and the Model of the vehicles was formatted from the whole number to Date/Year to suit the visualization needed to be achieved. Each chart was created to show the results of the analysis:

• Top 10 Products were shown using a bar chart and the Model with the highest sales.

• Filled map was used to show the locations where sales were generated from.

• The percentages for Fuel, Condition, and Transmission were also shown on a pie chart.

• A table was created to show the Engine Type, Odometer, Transmission, and Paint of each product measured by top sales.

• A line chart inevitably showed the monthly sales trend. This shows the total amount of sales generated from each month.

July had the highest Sales at ₦449,902,500 and was 106.20% higher than February, which had the lowest Sales at ₦218,190,000. July accounted for 10.51% of Sales. Across all 12 Month, Sales ranged from ₦218,190,000 to ₦449,902,500

RECOMMENDATION

  1. From the analysis done on the dataset, we would recommend that the client buys a Toyota Camry Vehicle with a 2-cylinder (l2) engine if he wishes to save cost.

  2. Toyota should focus more on the Lagos State market since that is where a majority of the revenue was generated, and probably stop the shipping of Manual transmission vehicles to Nigeria, as only 7 units were sold in the whole of 2021.

  3. An investigation should be done to know the reason(s) for the relatively high sales from April to July of that year.
